A new season a new Captain and some new players in the squad as the Seniors bid to regain the Anglian League in 2018.

Nine players arrived a day early to play a practice round in atrocious conditions.

New players to the squad, Mike Burnhope, Kingsthorpe and Paul Armitage, Peterborough Milton both had winning debuts.

We have had lengthy discussions with regard to historic poor performance in the foursomes and new blood and a shake up in the pairings paid off and we managed to come out of the morning session only 1 behind.

The afternoon singles were a fantastic result against last year’s Anglian Champions coming out 7.5 to 2.5 and therefore giving us an away win of 9.5 vs 5.5. An excellent start to the season.

The next fixture is an East Midlands match at home vs Nottinghamshire at Peterborough Milton.

A big thank you to Stowmarket Golf Club, the staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome.

I am pleased to say that not only did the team perform brilliantly but they also played in the spirit that our past Captain Mike Abbotts has instilled in us all.
