County Boys win Anglian League

Northamptonshire Boys team were crowned Anglian League champions with a stunning 9-3 victory against Cambridgeshire in the final.
Despite competing against a side with local knowledge of The Cambridgeshire GC, the visitors made the ideal start as captain Mark Stockdale and Jadon Pham (5&4) and Jacob Williams and Kai Raymond (6&4) recorded big early wins.
With the two other morning pairs matches going the distance, although the home side took the first point, Northamptonshire earned a 3-1 lead at lunch thanks to a narrow win from Jack Peters and Charlie Pearce.
Any worries that the home side would mount a countback were dispelled almost immediately in the afternoon singles as the away team dominated proceedings.
Stockdale and Elliot Strickland secured games one and two, before Peters strolled in with an astonishing 9&7 victory under his belt.
Although Joe Hyde and Williams suffered narrow defeats for Northamptonshire in the middle two ties, it made no difference to the overall match result as Pearce, Raymond and Pham wrapped up a comprehensive victory with holes to spare.
