County U-14 Boys finish 4th in the Keith Tripp Trophy match

As the results sheet shows, the Northants U-14 team were a few shots off the winners Derbyshire (Leics & Rutland were 2nd on countback) and we came 4th on the day. This competition was played off Scratch with the best 5 counting. Northants had a few too many high scores on the day when only4 players out 30 had scores in the 70's . Our best performer was Isaac Wakefield with 82 gross (Peterborough Milton) and our youngest Harry Odell shot 89. Reserve Daniel Rees's score of 90 would have saved us a couple of shots but overall, the hills and sloping greens of Lingdale Golf Course in Leicestershire proved the main obstacles for our younger-than-average team. We battled hard but despite mostly excellent tee shots, we did not judge the distances well or two putt often enough on the tricky greens to keep our scores down. A good learning experience !
