International Honours for 11-Year-Old Josh Bland

On 25 August, 11-year-old Josh Bland of Northants County Golf Club won the UK Kids Golf Grand Final at Whittlebury Park.  He shot 82 Gross to win by 6 shots and he will now represent the UK in the World Champion of Champions in Northern Ireland 2024 at Lough Erne.

Not satisfied with that, four days later he went on to win the Faldo Futures Series Grand Final Age 11-12 category.  His prize is a place representing the UK team at the IMG World Junior Championships 2024 at Torrey Pines, San Diego - the biggest junior world championships in golf.  Previous winners include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Jason Day.

The final was held at Adlington GC, Macclesfield. After a four-over-par front 9 Josh's nerves settled and, from 3 shots behind the leaders with 3 holes to play, he finished birdie, birdie, eagle, holing a slippery downhill five-foot putt after driving the par 4 18th green to finish level par.  His 4-under-par back nine meant that he came out on top by countback against two others tied on the same score.
