2nd Team v. Cambridgeshire

The county 2nd team played Cambridgeshire at Saffron Walden on Sunday 6th June, The result was a loss 4-8 which was disappointing given the very positive practice round the players had with county coach Shane Rose in attendance.

Morning Foursomes

The morning foursomes did not get of to a good start with all four pairs down early,

A good fight back from four down after 4 holes, Tom Forster & Charlie Salter managed a Half.

Taylor Sargeant & Michel Farr in a tough contest with the Cambs pair produced some magical putting over the last few holes to come out with a win Houdini would have been proud of.

The Afternoon Singles

The afternoon started badly with little good news to hear or good golf to watch with exception of Michel Farr with solid golf for his win and 2 points for the day to top score.

A typical gutsy performances from never say die Taylor Sargeant for his Half point so 1 1/2 for the day.

There was a solid performance from late replacement Charlie Salter who came on Sunday after playing 36 hole in a Midland O/M event on Saturday (Many Thanks to dad Richard for getting him their), Charlie played well and was unlucky not to get a half or even a win, what a great effort from the young man to turn out at short notice and play 72 holes and a great example to others. Thanks again Richard (dad) for your efforts and commitment.

So two matches and two losses will make the next match at Northants County on the 5th July a key one if we are to avoid the wooden spoon.
