Junior golfers throughout Northamptonshire took part in nine junior competitions as part of the 2018 NGL Junior Order of Merit.
Almost 140 different boys and girls from across the county competed in Junior Opens at Collingtree Park, Overstone Park, Peterborough Milton, Kingsthorpe, Wellingborough, Northants County, Cold Ashby and Northampton, plus the County Boys & Girls Championships at Oundle.
All Junior Opens included an 18-hole competition for boys (handicaps 28 or better) and girls (handicaps 36 or better) and a nine-hole competition for those young golfers with higher handicaps. Golfers trying to obtain a handicap played in a few of these events.

Points are awarded in each of the eight Junior Opens, in both the gross and net categories, as follows; 20 points for winner, 19 points for second, 18 for third, down to one point for 20th.
A player who hands in a completed scorecard receives one point.
Points are also awarded at the County Boys & Girls Championships, as follows;
30 points for the winner, 29 points for second, down to one point for 30th & below.
The final Order of Merit total is the best four points totals from the eight Junior Opens, PLUS the points tally from the County Boys or Girls Championships.
Top 10 players in the gross and net categories automatically qualify for the Grand Final. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the six Order of Merits.
