2021 Ladies Vets 1st v Warwickshire match
14th June at Whittlebury Park GC
The Northants Vets 1st Team kicked off their season with a match at Whittlebury Park against Warwickshire. On what must have been one of the hottest days of the year so far, umbrellas were being used for shade and sunscreen was being applied on the first tee.
The course was in very good condition and, although the rough was punishingly high, Northants coped well with all that Whittlebury Park threw at them on (and off) the course!
As a last minute stand in, it was a pleasure to watch some of the best Northants lady golfers play against the best of Warwickshire in a hard fought match which Northants eventually lost 5.5 to 2.5 . Silverstone race track, which is next door to the course, was in full throttle most of the afternoon what would have been a peaceful round of golf played in the best spirit.
Onward and upward – next stop Glen Gorse and then the big one – Woodhall Spa!
