2021 Ladies Past Captains County Girls match

26th September at Rushden GC

On Sunday 26th September the Northants Lady Past Golf Captains (NLPGC) played the Annual Match with the County Junior Girls.  Each lady captain was partnered with a junior to play Greensomes, over 15 holes this year. The event was hosted again by Rushden Golf Club and the Rushden Lady Captain, Claire McIlroy was on hand to welcome all players.
There were 10 ladies and 10 girls, and the weather was very pleasant - good golfing weather.  Once all players had been given a small gift, mostly edible, the golf started and was enjoyed by everyone.  The Junior Organiser, Richard Sharp, plus several parents were around to give encouragement, and would pop up at various points on the course.  This is a fun day and we walked in from the 15th green, which was a relief for some of the girls who often play only 9 holes.
The meal in the clubhouse was pizza, chips and drinks, and was very welcome.  The prizes for the day are the Connie Black Memorial Trophies, one for the winning girl and one for her captain partner, plus some chocolates each.  The winners shown in the photo were Lucy Haywood (age 12 yrs), left, Collingtree Park and Val Wesson, right, Kingsthorpe GC with NLPGC President, Lyn Cater, centre.
The other junior girls are members at Overstone Park, Kettering, Northampton, Northants. County, as well as Collingtree Park.
