A Match of Two Halves

Once again much ofthe conversation before the match concerned rain and thunderstorms.

Water hazards are a major feature of Brampton Park and on cue additional heavy  rain arrived to catch the last few morning foursomes. Cambridgeshire weathered the morning conditions the better of the two sides. Brendon Moss & Richard Dalton being the our only winning pair, The lunchtime score in Cambridgeshire's favour was 3 1/2 - 1 1/2 in the Anglian League and 4 1/2 - 1 1/2 in the Midlands East.

Northamptonshire matched the sunny afternoon  weather taking four of the first five singles, but Cambridgeshire weren't finished taking three of the next five.  Our Anglian League match was therefore a draw with 7 1/2 points each.

The Midland  League result being dependant on the last two matches . With Ted Dunn recording a 5&4 win the result hung in the balance. It was clear from the clubhouse that the final match was still alive on the 18th green. An excellent up and down from Grahame Castle secured a half after being dormy 2 down. With a 7 1/2 - 4 1/2 afternoon turn around reulting in a 9 points a side draw.
