2022 Ladies Vets Autumn Foursomes Meeting

12th September at Delapre GC

The first ladies arrived bright and early catching Liz Waine and I just setting up the registration table, raffle and prize table. Time then flew by as more and more ladies arrived for a coffee and chat before their tee times. Everyone commented on the pleasant weather and looked forward to their game. Foursomes is not the most popular format so there was much chat and banter before the golf even started. 

As usual when visitors play at Delapre, the club lady members help in any way they can- Julie Edwards and Anju Chauhan manned the raffle, Brenda Stobbs and Yvonne Jolly were starters and Jan Reed and Joan Ritchie were the heroes of the day doing "˜the loo run'.

At the half way stage the ladies began to mention that now it was very humid playing on the course and soon we had a short, sharp shower to cool everyone off. Then the sun shone for the last of the players to reach the 19th hole. Liz checked the cards and Sandy filled in the score sheet for all to see. The very first score in was an amazing 41 points from Mary Ganley and Betty McGowan, and we suspected it was because they were home players. However, as the results came in it became apparent that many scores were relatively high.

The sun shone at the end of the day so the prize table was moved outside and ladies lounged on the patio to hear the results.

The raffle raised £173 for the junior girls training.

This was my last event as captain and I'd like to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed my year. Huge thanks to all those that have supported me throughout- the committee and all the ladies that have played in the matches and meetings.
