NGL W omen's Vets 1st team  match v Lincolnshire

7th June 2023 at Greetham Valley GC

On Tuesday 7th June the 1st team ladies had a match against Lincs at Greetham Valley unfortunately, due to some misunderstandings not corrected by the Captains, the first teetime was significantly earlier than the ladies had been told. A distress flare email went out to the ladies and several phone calls and WhatsApp messages followed. This meant that the carefully planned pairings went out of the window and the ladies played in pairs as they arrived however they all arrived in time to make the original teetimes without any delays. Special thanks to Ionie Robinson and Claire Hunter for turning up super early and going out first, also to Sue O'Hagan who had a nightmare journey and had to go straight out but really thank you to all the ladies for being understanding and tolerant.

Well the day was grey and had a cold North East wind and then a fine rain started as the first players went out, this was the pattern for the day but the sun did come out for ca 5 mins but it certainly wasn't June weather. The ladies reported that the course was in good condition with the ball actually running and the greens were true and in good condition. Several of the matches went to the 18th where, if the hole was won the game could have been halved or a lead lost to a half. The 18th hole is very tricky as several ladies can testify with a steep downhill drop, stream before the green and tricky green so so serious measuring and dropping of balls were seen.

We had a very nice meal afterwards which all the ladies enjoyed and the result was a win for Northants 5 - 3. Well done ladies
