NGL Women's Vets 3rd  match v Staffordshire

Ladies from the 3rd team made the long journey to Great Barr golf club on 18th May for their match against Staffordshire Vets fortunately the roads, for us, were relatively quite and the journey was uneventful. This was not the case for some of the Staffs Vets who had a terrible journey coming down past Cannock due to an accident. Despite the weather predictions at the start of the week the day turned out to be warm and sunny although a little breezey and no rain whatsoever and shorts and tee-shirts were favoured. The Great Barr course was lovely - mostly parkland and not too much water although still tricky especially the rough which was hard to get out of and the long carries from the tee to the fairway. The game was played in great spirit and all players enjoyed their games whatever the results and the discussions in the bar got a little loud at one point - disturbing the card players! The meal was lovely and very welcome by all at the end of some tough games.

Unfortunately two of our ladies had to pull out at the last minute due to testing positive for Covid so we were only 14 players and had to cede one point to Staffordshire, despite this we won the match 5-3. Many thanks to my partner, Lin Johnson from Daventry, who had to play with me (the injured golfer) she played a blinder and thank you to all the Northants ladies, I hoped you enjoyed it and will put your names down next year.
