Friendly Seniors Match v Warwickshire

28th June 2023 at Harborne GC

Warwickshire hosted this match at Harborne GC set in the middle of Birmingham, a lovely drive to get there for 9am coffee and bacon roll. 

The morning session was six greensome matches. 

Myself and Andy Billson in match 1, Rob Clark and Simon Orrey in match 3, Jamie Scholey and Rob Price in match 5, all secured a win for 3 points. The other pairings all narrowly lost their matches meaning a morning tied result of 3-3.

Harborne GC then provided a bowl of soup and an ABUNDANCE of sandwiches for lunch. Not sure if this was Warwickshire's way of making us very lethargic for the afternoon fourballs?

The afternoon fourballs did not go according to plan for Northants as all six pairings lost their matches giving Warwickshire a maximum 12 points for the afternoon session. Maybe there was something in the sandwiches after all?

The overall result being 15-3 in favour of Warwickshire.

Although suffering a heavy defeat the match was played in great spirit and we look forward to hosting Warwickshire next season.
