2nd team v Lincolnshire 

We travelled to the north of Lincolnshire to play at Thonock Park GC Lakes Course. This is the home of the Ping Golf Fitting centre and has 2 Courses.
It seems normal now to have lots of unavailability and call offs for both County Teams, nevertheless we travelled with hope that we could give a performance and hopefully secure the points.
All started well in the Foursomes and all the players put on a performance. In match 1 Brandon Sanders and Andy Saunders had a super tight game against the lead Lincs pairing before going down 2&1. 
Match 2 saw James Barker and Sam Gilkes in a titanic battle with two very good Lincs players. In the end an A/S result was probably just about fair with our pairing giving a very good account of themselves.
Another close match with our third pairing of Richard Dalton and Anthony Bruce playing well but eventually losing 3&2.
Final pairing of Captain Sam Bird and Ben Hawkins played really well and hung on for a creditable one up result against two of the established Lincs players.
At lunch we went in down by just 1 point at 1.5 - 2.5.  We hoped that a good singles performance could soon turn this around. 

In the singles, disaster struck. Three matches were lost one down with Sam Gilkes, Sam Bird and Richard Dalton all playing very well but just unable to win their points. Brandon as lead off went down 2&1 in a close battle but Andy, James, Anthony and Ben were all well beaten. 
Singles result was therefore 8-0, a very rare occurence but credit to Lincs for having a strong team and putting us soundly to the sword. All our players tried very hard but sometimes when the opponents are better and on their home track, these things can happen. Final score 1.5 - 10.5.
The weekend was enjoyable with the England football match being on at the Pub where we stayed overnight.
Next match is at home against Suffolk 2nds to be played on the 4th August at Northamptonshire County Golf Club.

A good result is needed to rescue our season with an away trip to Gog Magog at Cambridge complete the season in early September. At present we have won 1 and lost 2 of our matches.
