NGL Women's Vets 2nds  match v Lincolnshire

6th June 2024 at Stoke Rochford GC

On Thursday 6th June the 2nd Team played a match against Lincolnshire 2nd Team at Stoke Rochford. Due to an unknown traffic incident many ladies, from both sides, were later than anticipated arrived later than they wanted although they still had time for a quick tea/coffee and to compose themselves before teeing off. On the course there was a chill in the air due to the, at times, very strong wind although the sun occasionally came out from behind the grey clouds and the temperature warmed up slightly but luckily there was no rain and we stayed dry. The course was in very good condition but if you strayed off the fairway the rough was punishing and the greens were like greased lightening with lots of slopes and borrows - that's if you managed to get your approach shot to stop on the green.

Again, as with the match at Milton earlier in the week, many of the matches were very close with several being halved on the 18th whilst others were not so close. Afterwards there was a very nice meal of lasagne, chips and salad - and some of the ladies sampled the range of cakes on offer. Special mention goes to Janet Lambdon who, with her playing partner Karen Johnson, won their match despite playing with a broken toe and walking all the way round a long and hilly course

Unfortunately, the result was a disappointing 6 v 2  loss for Northamptonshire.
