The Foursomes appeared to be going the way of Northamptonshire early in the round with Kai Raymond and Jadon Pham reversing an early deficit to go 3 up after 8 holes.
In Match 2 , Oli Godwin and Cameron Black had a great tussle, with holes being swapped but Oli and Cameron always looking in control.
Match 3 saw Ollie Penberthy and Harrison Panter involved in a real ding dong struggle with never more one hole in the game.
Match 4 involved James Atwood and Ollie Walden again in a very close game.
At this stage a 3-1 lead at lunch looked a likely outcome. Then came the turnaround. From 3 up, match 1 lost 5 holes in a row and couldn't recover and lost 3 and 1.
In the second match Oli and Cameron finished well to win 3 and 1.
The third game continued to be close and Ollie and Harrison lost the last hole to lose 1 down.
James and Ollie in game 4 played well but lost out 2 and 1, so instead of a lead Northants were 3-1 down at lunch.
The afternoon singles were all equally close with Northants losing out in all the close games.
Kai fought back from 6 down at one stage and but for an incredible 2nd shot on 18 by the Lincs player, Kai would have got a half. As it was he lost 1 down.
Oli, off second, found his opponent in red hot form and lost 3/1.
Cameron went out 3rd and had a close tussle and was 1 up playing the last. He made a brave up and down on 18 and with his opponent missing a short putt, Cameron ended with a 2 up win.
Ollie P maintained his impressive singles record with a 3/2 win.
Harrison again was in a close match. His opponent getting up and down on 18 from a near impossible position to make par and give him a half.
James was 2 down early against an opponent who was 3 under par. James was 1 under. Quality golf carried on but James eventually lost 3/2.
In game 7 Jadon was again in a close contest losing his game just 1 down.
Ollie in game 8 again was fighting to gain a win but despite playing well he lost 1 down.
So, 3 games were lost 1 down and a 1 up lead on 18 became a half. The end result didn't really give credit to the quality of the Northants players. An 8 1/2 - 3 1/2 win for Lincolnshire in a Match played in great spirit.
Thanks to the staff at Rushden GC for looking after us so well and to the Club for allowing the use of their Course, which was in good condition even after the recent deluges.
