The Wandlebury is the lesser known of the 2 courses at Gog Magog and has recently had new bunkers installed. It has significant elevation changes, like Staverton and Wellingborough. The greens were slow on the Sunday practice due to recent over seeding but were tournament ready and true for the Monday and Tuesday rounds. It provided a good test of golf over the 2 days.
The weather was a factor on both days, Monday was windy with several short showers with a particularly heavy shower towards the end of the round. Tuesday was rain free, bright, sunny with a stronger wind.
The format is the best 5 medal scores from 6 each day, creating wild fluctuations on the leaderboard, With 4 scores registered Northamptonshire were leading and we were lying 5th after day 1 with Andy Billson 2nd in the individual.
The second round played a little tougher with the wind and several smelly pin positions, especially on the last 4 holes.
We were not able to hold our 5th position and finished 7th overall however Andy Billson continued his great form and finished 2nd overall, 2 great rounds in those conditions.
Several in the team were a little disappointed with their scores, me especially, however it is a great event and a collection of the best senior golfers in the midland region.
I would like to thank the team for represent the county as it is a big commitment to give up 2 to 3 days of their time. I would also like to thank Alistair for acting as reserve and his help on the Monday start. I would also like to thank Catherine Tildesley, NGL President, who was supporting all day Sunday and the NGL for supporting this event.
The great thing is that we can look forward to putting a team forward to try and improve our position next year.

There was a local photographer taking photos over the 2 days.
