Northamptonshire Girls claimed the Midlands Scratch and Handicap double with a 6-3 win against Buckinghamshire in the final at Tadmarton Heath GC in Oxfordshire.
After a 6&5 success for Hattie Billson in the second game of the Scratch match, Northamptonshire needed to show all their battling qualities to extend the lead as Ashleigh Critchley fought back from an early deficit to win 3&2.
Although Katie Amos and Charlotte Gilkes were beaten in their games, Shivani Karthikeyan moved the county within sight of victory thanks to a 2&1 success.
A play-off still looked set to decide the contest however as Jade Roberts trailed by six holes at one stage, but the Northants player produced a stunning comeback as she clinched a point, and the Scratch match, by holing a six-footer on the 18th hole.
With Jade Potter receiving a walkover win, the Northamptonshire Handicap side always knew they only needed to pick up one point to claim the plaudits.
Despite finding good form, Elise Warden couldn’t grab it as she lost her game, but Hannah Talbot made sure of the team success as she took the 17th hole to secure the winning point.
