Staverton Park clinched the Hollingsworth Trophy for the sixth time with a dramatic 3-2 victory against Farthingstone in the final at a gusty and hot Northampton GC.
Farthingstone, who have never won the county team event before, made a solid start as Simon Nightingale and David Summerfield took the opening tie 4&3, before Darren Matthews and Karl Leason doubled their advantage with a win down the last.
Staverton emphasised their fighting spirit as Michael Forgione and Tom Bowen won the third game on the first extra hole after Farthingstone found bunker trouble, before Adrian Thompson and Peter Trueman level the scores with a magnificent birdie two on the 20th hole.
The comeback was completed by Andy Sant and Brian McGinley, who holed a 20-footer for birdie on the 18th hole to beat Ian Donald and Adam Smith.
