With a distinctly autumnal feel to the air, the last day of September saw the annual Izzard Trophy at Rushden GC. This is a stableford competition for teams of three consisting of a high, medium and low handicapper. Scoring proved difficult in the chilly breeze with only four out of 48 players returning 36 or better. Whittlebury Park managed conditions best and their team of Steve Manser, Richard Hunt and Simon Miller took the trophy with a total of 98 points over Rushden and Kettering, both with 95. Prizes for best individual scores for players in each handicap category who didn't win a team prize went to James Gardner of Overstone Park with the best score of the day - 38, Ian Hood (Oundle) and Mark Buckley (Collingtree Park) both on 32 points.
Below - Ian Dickerson, Rushden VP was presented with a NGL plaque for hosting the competition.
