Cold Ashby’s Bob Clayton capped a fine season by clinching the NGU Order of Merit for the first time with a runners-up finish in the Am-Am at Wellingborough.
Clayton, who was denied top prize in the Order of Merit on countback a few years ago, made no mistake this year as he shot 35 points in the last event to finish well clear of Nick Herridge (Brampton Heath).
Home club member Kyson Lloyd came in with the leading tally of 39 points, while Cold Ashby’s Fraser Carnihan (35) picked up third prize.
Fourth place went to Farthingstone’s Matt Hodgkiss (34) on countback from Wellingborough member Jamie Milligan, who came through to finish third in the Order of Merit.
The team prize was collected by county first team player Graham Bott (Cold Ashby) and Brampton Heath amateurs Guy Loveland, Brendan Kelly and Gary McAllister with 83 points.
Sam Bird (Farthingstone), Glyn Pepper (Wellingborough), Andrew Pell and Steve Warren (both Overstone) had to settle for second place on countback.
