Tom Cheevers picked up the first piece of county silverware this year as the Wellingborough member won the Higgs Bowl on countback after shooting a net 65 at Cold Ashby GC.
The 12-handicapper’s better back nine edged him ahead of home club member Stuart Thomas as he followed in the footsteps of club-mate Jamie Milligan, who triumphed 12 months ago.
Third-placed Dave Watson (Overstone Park) was one of a trio of players a further three shots off the pace.
