Northampton Golf Club 2015 Hollingsworth Trophy winners

Northampton Golf Club emerged victorious in a thrilling final against Kingsthorpe held at Overstone Park Golf Club on Saturday 25th July.

Kingsthorpes Jack Brown and Guy Loveland won match one, one up before Northampton's Lewis White and Drew Russell evened the score with a 3&2 win in match 2.

Dave Goldman and Darren Gould pulled Northampton ahead winning 4&3 in match 3 before Kingsthorpe’s Jake Croxford and Jason Spence evened the match by the same score in match 5, leaving match 4 as the only group out on the course.

Northampton’s Loz Ryan and Ross Skidmore looked to be cruising to a victory being three up after 10 holes until Leigh Woodward and Olly Hayward pulled themselves back into the match drawing level after 16. Northampton won the 17th hole and holed a tricky 3ft putt on 18 for a par to halve the hole and win the match.

A great match that came down to the last putt on the last hole, which is what you want in a final.
