Wellingborough clinched the Intermediate League title for the second time in four years after defeating Northampton 5½-2½ in the final at Collingtree Park GC.
After losing to Northampton in the group stages, Wellingborough made a determined start as Mark Coleman clinched the opening point 4&3, before Damian Magill beat James Cox 3&2.
With Andy Limbert (Northampton) and Oliver Tilley (Wellingborough) winning the final two games with five holes to spare, the result came down to the other four ties - all of which went the distance.
Dean Smith maintained Wellingborough’s advantage by halving with Sam Gilkes, while Gary Grimmitt guaranteed at least another half point by taking a one hole lead to the 18th tee.
This meant team captain Mike Gilbrook had the honour of securing the victory in the group ahead as he holed a four footer for par on the last green to finish all square with James Aris.
Grimmitt closed out his match by winning the final hole, before Duncan Cornish completed the scoring as he finished level with Northampton’s Dean Roberts.
