Thalia Martin (Peterborough Milton) lifted the County Championship title for the first time on her home course as she beat reigning champion Mary MacLaren (Wellingborough) 2&1 in the final.
After coming through the 36-hole qualifying competition as the top seed with scores of 74 and 78, Martin outplayed Alison Irvine (Northampton) 7&5 in the quarter-final.
The six-handicapper battled back to beat Whittlebury Park’s Natasha Ainsley-Thomas, who qualified in fourth place, on the 16th hole in the last four.
Despite playing in her first county final, Martin showed no nerves as she defeated MacLaren, who progressed through to the showpiece match with wins against Georgina Dunn (Peterborough Milton) and Carol Gibbs (Wellingborough).
After just missing out on qualification for the knockout stages on countback, Roseanne Youngman (Northampton) went on to lift the Plate title as she recorded three convincing wins, including defeating Ellie Darnell (Wellingborough) with four holes to spare in the final.
