Wood secures NGL Open

Dan Wood beat a large field of county professional and amateur golfers over 36 holes to clinch the NGL Open by one stroke at Northampton.

The Brampton Heath pro, who won the County Amateur Championship on the Harlestone course in 2005, carded a four-under-par total of 140 to nudge ahead of Northants County teenager Ben Jones.

Paul Hodgkiss (Farthingstone) and Tom Forster (Oundle) were a further shot off the lead.

The net prize went to Farthingstone’s Bradley Wardell (140) by four strokes from Cold Ashby’s Jack Hall.
