NORTHANTS Seniors team clinched the Anglian League title for the third year in a row with a 8½-6½ victory against Cambridgeshire at Barkway Park GC.
After halving the foursomes, the reigning champions took control in the afternoon singles as points from Alan Freeman (5&4), Gary Hardy (4&3), Ted Dunn (3&2) and MacDonald (6&4), and a half from Richard Cole, put them on the brink of glory.
County President Roger Butler had the pleasure of claiming the winning point as he shook hands with his opponent on the 16th green.
It all started with an away victory against Suffolk at Stowmarket GC in May as the team triumphed by the scoreline 9½-5½. The seniors then backed it up with home wins over Lincolnshire and Norfolk at Northants County GC and Kettering GC respectively.
