Lilly beats Jones to lift NGL Open

County first team player Ben Jones (Northants County) came up just short in his bid to win the NGL Open as the teenager lost to professional Simon Lilly on the fourth extra hole of a play-off at Staverton Park GC.

Lilly, who now represents Staverton, carded a birdie on the 17th hole to edge out the England Boys international after both players came in with a 36-hole total of three-under-par 139.

In a competition for both pros and amateurs in Northamptonshire, Charlie Salter finished third on 142, while the net prize went to Matt Smith (Brampton Heath).
